Araneae: Salticidae
Lycidas scutulata
My wife and I were going out for a birthday dinner and just as I was getting into the car, I found myself staring into the four largest eyes of a Jumping Spider, a tiny passenger perched on the roof of my car. I rushed back into the house and got my camera.
Jumping Spiders make a drumming sound with their feet during their courtship dance but the drumming I was hearing was the fingers of my wife as she waited patiently for me to take 20 photos. This was no courtship jig happening either.
I tried to take the spider off the car but he kept jumping and evading me so I told him to buckle up and off we drove to dinner.
He was gone when we arrived. I guess he thought two is company, three is a crowd.
